Washington State Walleye Circuit 2009
This year, the Washington State Walleye Championship Tournament (formally Spokane Walleye Club Walleye Championship Tournament) will again be held out of Kettle Falls on July 25th & 26th. I have been hearing a few "rumors" about the Washington State Walleye Circuit over the past few weeks. I want to take this opportunity to help some clear up the muddy waters. Currently there is no plans to add another tournament to the WSWC in 2009. Right there have not been any proposals, and 5 tournaments is a good number of tournaments. If a proposal is made to add a tournament, the board of directors for WSWC and the tournament directors will review the proposal, and take feedback from the anglers, and then made a final determination.
As it stands now, we are seeing declining attendance at the Spokane Walleye Championship. This tournament had less that 65 teams last year, but hopefully with the guaranteed 1st place payout of $10,000 we should hope to see that number get real close to 100 teams.
Through the grapevine, I heard another rumor that the Angler of the Year points system was changing. Again, there are no plans to change the way the formula for the point standings. The current formula has served very well, and the most consistent anglers are usually right close to the top of the pack.
